Default 6.5L quits

My 3500 Chevy will just quit in town, I pull it over and wait 3 or 4 mins and it starts right up. Drove it 35 miles and never quit again. I did notice the volt meter was not even close to 14V while up to speed. Thoughts? I just bought this truck, 65,000 miles on it, very clean. Seller told me it sometimes quits in town. He was not sure why either.

thanks,
Steve

So, I have been looking around and it seems like the Fuel filter is the 1st place to start.

PMD is probally bad and still mounted on the IP you need to relocate that puppy out of the engine bay to inside the front bumper and with the electronic injection you always shoud have a good PMD as a spare on hand.

The factory mounting of the PMD on the IP injector pump was a known failure point by G.M. covered by warranty but due to the age of your truck you are out of luck.

Yes, thanks. I will look into this tomorrow and see where it's located. I know something on top the engine has been changed, the plastic cover will not fit and handed to me by owner. Thanks, will follow up here with what I change ect.

Kind of sounds like they have mounted a another PMD to the intake as to the reason you can not mount the cover back on that is still a bad place for it move a new one with if you don't have one a heat sync to behind the front bumper where the temperature is cooler, over time the heating and cooling of the engine will kill a PMD faster, look online for the relocation kit for the 6.5 PMD you will have to make your own bracket to mount the heat sync to mount it to the front bumper I used a piece of angle iron and a hack saw anddrill a couple holes to put bolts trough it.

So far so good, has not quit again since adding new PDM and moving bracket. :-)
