Default Exaust leak help?

Hey everyone!

so recently i have noticed a bit of a tick/light knock from the pass side of my 6.5. at first i ignored it thinking it was just part of the natural groans and burps the motor makes while it runs. but it become a lot more pronounced with the cold weather here. I thought of the worst (i.e injector/ internal knock) but the oil pressure is perfect and it idles smooth without a hick up or any smoke. I narrowed the noise to the area where the turbo sits and noticed a **** ton of soot between the motor and the shield there. literally the injectors were nicely coated! and underneath i noticed the exhaust manifold. (phone died so this is the best picture i found online to show) but basically its all covered in soot and you can really see it coated on the injectors themselves

then also while down there i noticed a light oil sweat on the lower center part of the turbo (lower then where i marked in pic) . it doesn't look fresh but i just wanted to know if it was a need to concern

Thanks!

Check the clamp between turbo and the down pipe these will sometimes loosen up with time.

hmm, checked it out today, did'int seem loose. But there is soot all over the injectors on the turbo side of the motor under this little shield thing. thats the only place im seeing soot. could it be a loose manifold or a bad manifold gasket?

I guess it is possible that the manifold or even the cross over pipe has loosened up you may want to drop the passenger side inner fender to get a better look in there.

The oil sweat you mentioned could be coming from the turbo oil drain. There's a gasket between the turbo and metal drain tube, I found the gasket on Ebay when I replaced mine. It's not a big deal, just a gravity drain.

If the injectors are covered in soot under the shield it is likely the manifold is leaking between the head and manifold-if there is gaskets used in that area that is the most likely reason why it is leaking,no gaskets are supposed to be used there.
