Default PMD issues? 1996 K1500 Suburban

I have a 1996 K1500 Suburban.

I've had 3 bad Gray Standynes now - if this is a PMD issue. I'm not sure of this last one yet. The 1996 Suburban is dying and restarting like it is having a PMD issue.

The gray PMD was installed sometime in 3 -2013. No idea when I bought it. What gives me pause is that I plugged into the spare and it did the same thing.

Both Ran for about an hour, died, cooled down and restarted, ran for another 1/2 hour, died, cooled down and restarted.

I have not tried a known to be good PMD yet. The truck was gone before I could get the known to be good spare off of it to put on the Suburban.

I have a new PMD ordered from leroydiesel.com

Any thoughts on what it might be if the next PMD does not work?

Are you getting a SES light or any codes. If you haven't checked yet your next step would be to check for codes and clear them out in case you have any old codes stored.

Next time it dies pour water on your IP and see if it restarts,if it starts right up,your IP is on its way out.

I've been wondering about the IP. I have to try a known to be good PMD next.

There's not much water to pour around here. Just snow. LOL

Didn't get much done today. It was minus 6 degrees and I don't have heat in the shop.

I am fearing it is the injection pump.

The PMD is only 9 months old and doesn't have much time on it. I'm not sure of the age of the spare. I never got to look at it yet. I thought it was new. But it may just have been something that I knew would run the Suburban and hopefully get you home

I re-did the grounds and installed a new PMD. It ran fro 3 hours plus without dying.

Don't know if it was the grounds or PMD - I'm betting grounds. I don't get the whole 2 hour and dying thing I was having. Unless it was just a coincidence. 3 different PMD's - PMD's usually do not all have the same types of issues.

If it was the ground, I would have expected other issues as well - ruff running and stuff. Just seems odd to me.

Of course, maybe I did not fix anything and it will start dying again.
