Open exhaust sounds good cruising,if you tow anything the drone without a muffler will drive you insane.

I think my next step is going to be the cross-over pipe.

My 2 cents is that I personally think it sounds almost like a gas job, as it has kind of a crackle at the top of the RPM range.

Does it have a bolted flange on the down pipe to enable easy removal for servicing the injector & glow plug?

The downpipe is fastened with a V band clamp on all the 6.5TD diesels to match the turbo exhaust outlet.

It comes off with one clamp at the turbo and just under the floor there are two bolts and a flange to drop out the down pipe.

Not to much of a drone with it. Plus it comes out so far back on the truck its not anywhere near as loud in the truck as it is outside. I have had loud/piped vehicles my whole life so I guess its just something that I like.

Yep, I was talking about the down pipe to exhaust pipe connection.

"there are two bolts and a flange to drop out the down pipe."

Yes there is a bell joint at the bottom of the downpipe.

What do you mean by a bell joint? Where one pipe slides into the other and is clamped?

That's what I have on the 1994 K3500 and that sucks bad. Need a flanged and bolted joint. I would never buy a system with anything but a flanged joint there

A bell joint is when 1 pipe has an end shaped like a bell and the other pipe has an end shaped like a ball so that they fit together.
Each pipe has a flange that bolt to each other to hold the pipe together.

A bell joint lets the pipes fit even when they are not lined up straight and you can easily rotate a pipe to clear obstacles.

I do not know that I have seen one of those. I'll have to google for a picture

Is this something you bought special? Where do you buy them or do they come this way?

The diamond eye system comes this way.

Most custom exhaust shops can make them also-it could be another name though, but that is what I was taught to call it:
