How often do you guys change your fuel filter, I put about 12.000 on in a year. I got a problem with high idle at around 1000rpm and my check Engine light came on..I put on a new pmd still the same thing, would the fuel filter cause this.. once the truck is fired up you turn it off and start it back up it's fine..idles around 7000, but once you step on the peddle it revs high again.

 

I change mine every second oil change sounds like. bad sensor

 

I just changed the pmd yesterday, so I disconnected the Battery Cables over night.. hoping the check engine light is out when I hook them back up.. gonna have too wait a while for that, big snow storm on here now..

 

Go to your local parts supply and get them to do a free code check,write don the code #'s and post them here so we can help figure out what the problem might be?

On anything newer than 95 taking the battery cables off does nothing to clear codes,a code checker or scan tool is needed.

 

Put cables back on..check engine light is out, but still revs high. the problem here is I'm about 2 hours drive from a parts place.
