Run truck on Transmission fluid?
Thats a nifty little filter there. I have been to lazy to buy one of those so i am still filtering my trans and motor oil with a micron sock but it seems to be working just fine. I havent mixed this black diesel over 50/50 with reg diesel or bio. Truck runs just fine. It does stick a tad but who cares
. Have you run any through ur truck mayhem?

I have run about 50% straight gear oil (New, and red) in my 7.3 liter and it seemed to work fine. SMelled a little funny, but no smoke. Then I ran a mix of mostly used autotrans fluid with a little crankcase waste oil though my centrifugal filter, so it was well filtered. I put about 20% unleaded in it ot get the viscosity more like pump fuel, per USFILTERMAXX, and it smoke pretty heavily. SO I added 50% pump diesel and it continued to smoke. I burned the tank off on the highway (surface streets were embarrassing to drive on due to smoke/smell). It would sometimes billow white smoke at idle or when I stepped on it, but ran OK. I ran it to zero fuel left. I put in 100% pump diesel and it still smoked on the way home, so I bought some fuel system cleaner and added 10OZ to my 30 gallons. It smells way better but I have not driven enough to see if the issue can be fixed by cleaning the system.

If you have a mechanical IP there is very little issues as long as the fuel is filtered well.
The main trouble comes when an optical sensor is added to the mix-if it gets cloudy or opaque then you will be in limp mode untill it is cleaned or replaced.

Reading through this thread, I thought about the smell issue. I dislike giving out ideas without full research or trying them myself....but....
What about a scented kerosene additive?? Pine scented?
I found an MSDS sheet, http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdf...a827e1a534.pdf
It contains methyl alcohol, and has a flash point of 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Would that cause detonation? It is suggested to mix 1 ounce per 10 gallons, so I would think not.
Any ideas?
