Default truck not starting again!!!

I will start at the beginning. Last fall I got ready for wood cutting and truck would not start so before I went off half cocked, I went and bought a fuel filter, truck started right up. I went wood cutting, cut three cords with three trips. The last trip parked the trick next to wood stack and it would not start. This was last fall. Now I let the truck sit all winter, truck started right up in the spring then would not start the next time I went to use it. After more filters and a transfer pump this summer truck seemed to be running great. It has already made two trips this fall. Went out tonight to move truck for a trip in the morning and it will not start. It cranks over good. I hear the pump cycle till the light goes out. No start like it is not getting fuel. Could this be the oil pressure switch cutting of the fuel periodically even though I can hear the transfer pump running or does it cut off the injection pump? I am really getting sick of this. I have been on this site before and had really great results here. Hope you guys can help. Mileage is 149,000. Thank you, dave

First thanks for the response Mayhem. Hoped I would pickup someone that would check this out. The 8th digit is F, have no clue what this means but that's what the vin says. This is what I did today, removed the transfer pump which was replaced in June. It was a Carter pump and from what I understand they are not very good. Hot wired the pump on bench with 12 volt and it would not pump fuel from the can. I am assuming the pump has failed. I have ordered a new Delfire transfer pump. It is acting the same as early this summer. Maybe I am wasting my money. Not sure. Thanks for the response. Any info you have no idea how much I appreciate your response. Thanks, Dave

Good diagnostics on the lift pump.

Symptoms also indicate possible PMD failure as well but since you use it so seldom it's tough establish a pattern.

Default runs again

Well changed pump today, bled filter while truck was going throught its prestart cycle, air and then fuel at filter housing. Started a little rough, once all air was gone, running great. Let run for maybe 45 min shut off, restarted about 15 min later running just fine. Hope it makes it to the woods and back next weekend LOL.I can laugh now a little. I want you guys to know that this site is invaluable to the people trying to keep these trucks running. My truck is a good looking 97 4 door 1ton 4x4 5 speed and have got 21 miles a gallon before but keeping it running is something else. Thank again dave
