2000 6.5L TD Turbo stuttering
Hi, new here.
I have a 6.5 Turbo Diesel and recently have been experiencing a surging/stuttering/shutting off of the turbo once I accelerate enough for the boost to kick in. I got the Turbo checked out and its working properly, as well as my turbo sensor and wastegate. I bought a new lift pump for it and am unsure whether to replace mine or not because trying it out will void the warranty and I won't be able to return it (not complaining, just want a second opinion). I'm not experiencing any whistling or strangeness when boost hits which makes me think I don't have an exhaust leak.
But OTHER than that, engine runs fine, as long as I am not pushing it to boost, it runs like a dream.
I guess my only question is, do you think my lift pump is getting lazy and I should replace it.
My band leaves for a 25 day tour to California in 4 days.
Any help would be appreciated

There is t-valve up buy your radiator just open the T valve while truck is running and there will be a hose hooked to it that leads nowhere and fuel will shoot out of it if lift pump is working. If it's not working nothing will come out and motor will die.Might want to grab a old coffee can or something to keep fuel from shooting on the ground.PS if T -handle is hard to turn grab a pair of pliers to turn it.
Hmm, well I have the lift pump wired to a cab switch so I can have the pump manually prime, I turn it on, it brings my psi's up to about 7. Am I missing something? It seems to only be failing when the turbo is asking for it to work harder. I apologize in advance for not being more knowledgeable
I'm not sure about a 2000 but there is a rectangular sensor on the intake on the older ones that runs boost on the passenger side, make sure it is plugged in good and spray connections with some kind of electronic solvent spray, see if that helps. This happend to me and I had the same issues your having. If your truck has a turbo power plastic cover on top the motor it will be under there.
Thanks! I'll give that a shot tonight, I know I haven't filled out my vehicle profile yet, but the truck in speaking of here is a short bus so the engine is in the dog house. Any clue as to where that rectangular box would be on that? I'm planning on giving what you said a shot after work today.
also, thanks for the advice, you've been very helpful so far
