Default 98 6.5 suburban power loss

It supplies good power till about 2500 rpms then kills power like its governed out and blows thick black smoke, power will return when you let completely off the petal, I cut the cat and muffler off, it's getting good flow, pmd has been relocated, right when it kills the power you can hear a metal on metal squeak, the turbo is still spooning at 5 psi pretty much whenever the petals down

Sounds like a collapsed exhaust crossover or an exhaust leak combined with a turbo on it's last legs,or a vac pump that it biting the dust.

These turbos fall flat on their face above 2400 rpm and always have so pushing hard beyond that just creates excess smoke and heat.
