Default 6.5L water in fuel light..

The water in fuel light was on when i bought it 4 months ago..I have never had any power problems, or problems with it just dieing or not starting. It has always started and ran fine..I just recently changed the lift pump and put a new fuel filter in it. And today the light comes back on. I have been using XDP fuel additive..Also put some SEAFOAM in before filling it up. Any suggestions what might be going on? Like i said there are no power issues and she runs great..

Water from the fuel collects at the bottom the filter housing, when it gets enough water the light switch is triggered.

With the truck parked safely and the engine running, open the water in fuel drain Tee valve located at the frt of the engine on the coolant crossover manifold-the water will drain from the hose out to the ground or a container if you choose to use 1,when clear fuel comes out the hose close the valve.

Then look for a new place to buy fuel.

Racer55, when I open the water drain valve on my 6.2, the engine stalls, would this indicate the lift pump is weak?

Thanks

That means your lift pump is not working.

Do you have a mechanical or electric LP?

Also lack of fuel will not affect timing but will affect power when the engine is starved for fuel, stalling under load and sever lack of power would be symptoms.

Sorry for the delay, not getting emails about new posts-will check into it.

It is a electric pump, I am going to crawl under it tomorrow and see if it is getting juice, I understand it is switched from oil pressure and that switch can give you problems.

I will let you know what I find out

THANKS

AC Delco ONLY for replacement OPS.

Google "OPS Relay Mod" and diy or buy the kit from Kennedy Diesel.
