Up 6.2 Liter, WHAT IS THIS?

Ok, if I am right, and the picture uploaded, here is my question. What the heck is the thing that the arrow is pointing at? There is nothing hooked to it on my engine, and I am wondering if it was something for emissions, etc, that can be removed?

I have another ID question, I will post it seperately, since I will need new arrows on that one.

Thanks!

It is the EGR valve.
If you remove it exhaust gasses will be dumped straight into the intake unless you are able to plug the port or use itake gaskets with block off plates.

Racer,

I thought that the EGR had to do with those pipes/hoses that run around the front of the intake? Hook to either side of the air intake? Or is this tied in with them some how?

Thanks!

Can't see the routing of those pipes to be certain but what you have pointed to is the EGR valve itself.
