Default Shifting issue

Truck will not shift right when I stomp on it. is there any thing that it could be like a sensor. And how do I tell what gears I have in it it's an automatic it shifts 4 time only is that right for the truck because it seems like it would need one more gear in it it will do about 65 at 2600 rpms.

Look in the glove box at the build sticker there will be a code that starts with a GU something that is the running gear

Seems like the solution is right in front of me, seems like if you just don't stomp on it you will be fine. What happens when you do stomp on it, if all it does is go up to redline then shift up than I don't think anything is wrong, that is supposed to happen. The higher rpm might be that you have 4:10s, I had a conversation with Racer55 and he has the 4:10s and said he runs about 2700rpm at 65 too. If you have ran lower than that before than you're not shifting into overdrive. You said if shifts 4 time and that is all the gears I think they put in the autos so you should be fine.\

I think when you have it stomped, the vehicle trys to do everything to keep the rpms up, thus higher shift points, or possibly no up shifting.

My 97 one ton runs about 2700rpms at 65 MPH so I'm guessing its normal
