The extension harness i have is just a plug and play, no wires to ground? The heat shrink has a threaded screw hole. Is that sufficient to ground or do i have to splice into the harness?
U shouldnt have to grond the heat sink the harness is grounded to the IP and u plug in the extension to the connecter and the apmd is grounded...u dont need to ground the heat sink..
there should be 4 drilled holes to mount the pmd to heat sink and there should be another hole drilled to mount it...
no need to ground heat sink

I noticed when the previous owner relocated the pmd ( to a heat sink above thr exh manifold) he spliced into harness and grounded to engine. If i dont have to do that all the better! Thanks for the info! P.S. I do plan on pulling his harness and goin with the new one right from the IP.
The IP harness ground needs to be grounded to the IP and/or the drivers side battery ONLY.
The PMD heatsink does not require any ground at all but there is no harm in adding 1 and some manufactures even recommend it.
Pictures 2 and 4 of this link show the proper location of the IP harness ground(black wire):
