No, you have to drop the front axle. it's a royal PIA. I don't remember having to jack the motor but I know I dropped the front axle .

Would it be easier to lift the motor a few inches? Rather than dropping the axle?

I use this truck to work every day, is there any way I could patch it up for now.. how about JB weld, if I sanded it down and cleaned it up.

The only problem I have found with JB Weld is that it softens up with higher temperatures.
How bad is the problem?

It's just a small leak..only a few drops on the ground after setting all night.

no You cannot get it off that way. You must drop the axle. It's not that bad.

Drain the oil. Then braze it. You may need to reprime the motor. Be careful when you go to start it after putting the oil back in. If you start it and don;t have oil pressure after a few seconds, shut it off and pull the oil pump drive and hand prime the pump.
