I didn't see you wuz in AL earlier,

My backhoe I pull from Andalusia to Pascagoula Ms is 12,000# or so, with trailer another 5600# when adding tools & fuel 23,900# combined weight is most I've pulled with her.

I'm able to pull the "Dolly Parton" twin peaks on I-65 North of Mobile +80 mph if I wanted to; but I limit to 70mph max for safety and less if traffic warrants it>

I run and maintain 70-75 mph in cruise control the 170 mile trip one way pulling the hills up to exit 81 where I get off and head over to Andalusia via Castleberry/Brooklyn road Rt 6, my camp where I work my backhoe is on Conecuh river.

121 mph by GPS is my max best attempted with the ole girl running empty which ain't bad for a 6.5 considering it is at 6480# or so empty weight with the big Buckstop bumper on the front of it, that was back when I was running load range C tires, now I run range Es which are not rated for speed but load carry.

A 20 mile pull infrequently you should be ok with a ramped up 6.5 at 30K#, how far you from Andalusia we mite need to hook up & share notes.

I like the Dmax when running but they are sooooo expensive to repair when they break, a set of 6.5 injectors is less than cost of single Dmax injector, I may move to Dmax one day when 6.5 parts are no longer obtainable, but one can buy a complete 6.5 truck sometimes for 2K in decent shape and sell off parts not needed to other 6.5ers. And no Diesel option for burbs unless getting a 6.5 or doing a conversion to Dmax and that is a MAJOR project.
