Default 1995 Gmc 2500 pops and sputters, AND TAKES OFF?!

i have a 1995 gmc k2500 6.5 that, for the past couple of weeks has been popping and sputtering at idle, just for a second and clears up. so today while pulling into work, it started to do it again while i was sitting in my truck. so it popped, and while it was i gave it a little pedal and the truck took off to 5000rpm. i shut the truck off by key and it stopped. i started it up again and still pops and sputters every once and again.

please help me with this as i plow and there is a storm coming in my area.

i heard it could be PMD related??

Flight systems PMD's where known to cause runaway conditions because of a bad batch run in their production.

Simply put-if it doesn't say stanadyne it is a flight systems no matter who's badge is on it.
Could also be an IP problem?

There was another PMD manufacturer many years ago called SOL-D but the have been off the market for a long time.

I believe I have read about 1 grey stanadyne failing in this matter also.

This offsite thread might be of some help?

If you do contact them say the PMD is IP mounted no matter where it's actual location is.

Dtech, dipaco, dorman, ect. are all flight systems PMD's,at one time they were very good and may be again.
But like mentioned above, they had a bad batch run that were dangerous.

Only 2 companies make PMD's anymore, stanadyne and flight systems.

They all fail eventually but it comes down to quality installation and the location it has to survive.

Autozone has a lifetime warranty PMD,Dorman part#904-104

Heath has a 7 year warranty kit available.

SS Diesel has terrible warranty service from what I have read and dictates the PMD be placed in the worst possible location.

The grey stanadyne has had few reported failures.

Leroy Diesel.com sells both brands and matches Heaths warranty-an e-mail to him might direct you better?
