Oil Cooler line removal

Default Oil Cooler line removal

I know about the after market kits. No info needed on that topic. I have a 1999 suburban 6.5 4x4. I already loosened the right side exhaust manifold just to get a 1/16 inch clearance to take off lower line (that hurt). Once done popped out retaining clip on line, disconnected. Upper line, popped off retaining clip, disconnected. Then I find that there is a small rubber o-ring that sits inside the block connector adapter which seals the oil cooler line when conected. Well that has to be replaced when installing new oem part. Couldn't get out the o-ring with connector in block so,,only way I found was to remove the block connector. Easy enough, removed, no problem (thats how I found out how to dig out the o-ring). Upper line you have to take off oil filter adapter to get off upper line connector. Plus I'm thinking thats going to give me more room with everything removed to snake these two lines out. After this is complete I still can't snake the lines out. Both lines run in a small channel on the driver side between the oil pan/Block and engine mount. Is it expected to take off the driver side engine mounts (possibly both mounts) lift the motor to get clearance to be able to remove and replace with oem part. These oem metal tube lines make turns and twists. How can something so simplistic be so complicated to replace. This is starting to be a love/hate relationship. Any comments for a person who wants to install OEM oil cooler lines. I ended up cutting the two lines to remove them.
