Check again. The govt. makes huge money on the imports with the huge tariffs they impose on them.

A big part of the problem is... the "imports" are buying all the imports bucause they are cheap and it's all they can afford.

So our government PROMOTES imports by putting tariffs on them?

If they don't put tariffs on imports, then we get flooded with imports and obviously The Government has a chubby for imports. If they do put tariffs on imports, then The Government has a chubby on imports because they make money on them.

I question your macroeconomic reasoning. Citizens buy what they want. The Government may occasionally gaff a market or two, but that's due to inept governmental foresight, not conniving governmental conspiracy.

Damn the big 3 as well. Greese zerks should be on all suspension parts.
The Big 3 have to pay extra fees to the government for grease fittings. Because the grease is considered hazardous waste. Same reason they have all changed from the old 3000 miles or 3 months oil changes, trans, diff, coolant, all fluid services mileages they want the services above 100,000 miles because they have to pay a disposal fee to the government on anything under 100,000. Ask any dealer and they'll tell you the same.

I buy a lot of parts and have ran into the same thing. I have approached all my suppliers about buying USA made parts even if they cost a little more, only to find out that a lot of parts just aren't made here anymore.

We run into it a lot on jobs that require a certain percentage of pieces be American made. It's tough to find them anymore.

If you want Cummins parts you gotta go to Cummins, tryin to buy Cummins parts at NAPA is like goin to a Chevy dealer lookin for a new F250. I do agree though stuff sold these days is not the quality it used to be.

Big pissoffs....

Refrigerators. Back in the day they were built to last 25 years. Now they last 7 to 10 if you're lucky.

Hot water tanks. Gone through 3 in the last 13 years. They were bloody GE's too! WTF??

Now here is a big **** off...

Lawn mowers. Now when you spend 4K+ on a new lawn mower, You'd think it would be built to last. Yeah right! The tin foil deck is the first to go. Then the blade spindles die because you can't service the bearings.

Ford, GM and Dodge

Damn the big 3 as well. Greese zerks should be on all suspension parts.
My bitch is even for the small things...windsheild wiper blades, seems like I have to replace them every couple of years. the one's made years ago seemed like they lasted forever
