hear about the first plane, kinda brushed it off as a huge oops and went to a meeting, second plane hit..hmm not good stopped the meeting early and went out to watch some more, then the pentagon got hit.. ****, pretty close to work, not good. I decided to stay at work for awhile longer since i figured the roads would be a mess with them evacuating DC and all but i guess it went pretty well and fast. wife at the time was pretty pissed i waited to get home
as for no planes? ha! we were right in the edge of the loop the F16's were making around DC and holy crap theyre loud when they pass over at a five hundred feet at the most.
lots of helicopters going around too, they always fly 3 at a time between dc and camp david and would go right over the apartment i lived in.
one of the scariest things? coming home.. it took me right past one of the entrances of FT. deitrick and there was a tank parked in the entrance with the barrel leveled at windshield height down the road.. i was sweating bullets driving by that for sure. gee... do i really want to keep driving at the tank? i kinda have to to make the turn rigtht in front of it to make it home..

I was at work when my dad came out of the office and said a plane had just hit the World Trade center building. Me and a few guys we had working for us went in the break room and turned on the tv. Strangest day I ever had at work all we did was watch the news. All we could do was sit and watch and worry about all the lives being lost right in front of you. Being 19 at the time with quite a few military friends and family you knew they where going to be deployed somewhere so I also worried about there safety.

The only day in ten years that I called into work sick. I called in at 6:15am. C.S.T. I got out of bed about 9 am.,and watched all day. Couldn't make my mind if I wanted to be PISSED off,or SAD. Too many Emotions, that day. May God have mercy on the souls lost that fateful day. And as for the Son of a BITCHES that commited that horrific crime. KILL'EM ALL,AND LET GOD SORT"EM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in the Indian Ocean on board the USS Carl Vinson near the southern tip of India. I was on watch in the engine room when it happened. We answered full speed for about 12 hours after to make it into the North Arabian Sea, where we spent the next 112 days. We launched the first planes into Afghanistan, and had 83 straight days of combat flight operations. Needless to say, things were much different when we finally came home.

I was doing a brake job on a 4 axle 53' trailer when one of the other mechanics ran into the shop and changed the radio station we were listining to. Everyone stopped and listened to the radio. And i was thinking this is no accident. The guys in the shop were pretty quiet the rest of the day.
