Instead of getting upset about it your best bet is to try to work out a compromise with the guy. Better you both lose a lesser amount that way. Maybe parts at cost and split the labor, or whatever can be agreed upon along those lines.

I'm not a Ford guy, but from what I've seen a new HPOP is a fairly common repair, so can't be all bad whether you really needed it or not.

I told him i would pay 100% of the parts but we still havent came to agreement on the labor. The truck still isnt done and im losing patience. I will never bring my truck there again. The only reason i did in the first place is he came highly recommended by everyone in the area. Turns out he isnt as good as they thought!

You shouldn't throw parts at a vehicle when the bill is over a grand. He should of took the time to pin point the problem not just take a good guess.

I would write a check for parts at cost and maybe a fraction of what labor was since he didn't fix the problem and take your truck. We have a local diesel mech around here that thinks hes mechanic of the year but in reality hes failure of the year. I dealt with him once and never again. I wrote him a check for half of what he charged me and took my truck with another set of keys . Speaking of him I need my original set of keys back.

Screw that, tell him to put your old working parts back on and pay him for the problem it originaly had if he fixed it, otherwise show up at his front door and beat his *** till he gives you your truck back, he is supposed to be a mechanic, not joe blow who just throws money at it till it fixes its self. I had a buddy that a was owed money by a shop owner and he payed me $500 to show up at his shop and beat his *** every day till he paid my buddy, took 4 visits.
