Default Domain Name Server

lately when I sign on to the internet the page wont always come up, when I click on "diagnose this problem" it always says "domain name server is down". It happens sometimes as soon as I log in, sometimes I can be online for awhile before it starts acting up. It started doing the about a month ago then our internet provider had a problem and we lost internet for about a day and then it worked with no problems, last night it started doing it again. This morning I couldnt go to any web site at all, I disconnected the router and turned the computer off, then turned it all back on and it works but now occasionally when I click on a link it will try to load it for ever and eventually bring up the domain name server down message and other times it will bring a page up but it will show its constantly lodaing. Such as right now as I type this it shows that its constantly loading the page.

Awhile ago DM told me that my router probably needed to be replaced but right after that is when our internet was down with some kinda problem and after they fixed the problem the computer worked fine (till now) which made me think maybe it was just them.

I really dont wanna go buy a router for $100, because this one isnt very old and im afarid I will waste $100 to have internet still messed up.

im about to throw the freakin computer threw the window .

if the router isnt that old, return it for another one, i would talk to your internet supplier and see if they are having problems....

Well its roughly about a year old maybe a little more than a year but not much, I would think though that it should last longer than that. I dont really think I can return it 1 because I dont have the box it came in and two because its been to long. Buying one thats the same exact kind and then returning the old one in the new box did cross my mind but I would feel bad.

ya you need to put in a support ticket with them and let them tell you that everything is OK on their end before you go replacing your stuff..... from what i've seen either a router works or it dosen't..... i've found that sometimes if it's the router and you are running wireless to the computer that is acting up you can assign it a static IP address and it'll clear everything up for the most part..... the router will try to refresh the ip addy and the computer dosen't like having to constantly change that...... let me know if ya can't figure it out.... i'll try to step by step tell you how to assign one to it....

ok so im gonna wait till ryan gets home from work and let him do all that stuff . I tried to call at&t but because the bill is in ryans name they wont help me or tell me anything, even though last time there was problem they didnt care. Last time I had a problem and called them they kept saying "its not on our end its your problem" so then I asked "why does the light above DSL on my router flash red all the time" then they decided to tell me "ohhhh then its on our end we have been having that problem in your area"

How do we do that, our computer only has a ethernet port and not a regular phone jack port.

unplug the cable that goes from the router to the computer. then unplug the cable that goes from the dsl modem to the router. then plug in the cable from the modem that use to go to the router and plug it in the computer where the router use to plug in.

also do you have DSL filters on all your fone lines throughout the house?
