Sure they can, but like I said I'm thinking its more of a safety issue than a pollution issue. The EPA has already made it hard enough on us I dont think the DPS really cares because they know the modern TD is very low in emissions. But when a guy is fogging the lanes on a freeway in heavy traffic that is a dangerous situation they need to stop.

Yep, just like my post above its more for protection and safety of the public. Smoke doesnt necessarily mean high emissions but in most cases it does.

Exactly John. I started noticing there have been 6 surveyors on 290 for the last 3 months. I started backing out of the throttle on the on ramps right before I got to them but I'm not sure if the equipment is good enough to pick up the NOX from my stack or not.

I'd smoke those stupid machines if I lived out there. But I'm just a stupid irresponsible kid.

And that's exactly why the policies get implemented.

But I never smoke somebody out when it can be a safety hazard. I'm sure you do the same as I do and check the relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, temperature, barometric pressure and any other factors that would effect the emissions of your truck before you romp on it.

For my daily driving I load a tune that my GT60 can adequately handle so that I don't fog the lanes if I have to nail it. At the track I of course load a full race tune that will kill mosquitos for miles which is completley rediculous and unnecessary. However, I let my trucks ECM check the humidity, barometric pressure, AAT, and IAT for me.

I let my foot do the tuning.
