so far we have derbied a 1969 buick electra 225 with 430 BB, a 98 police interceptor with a fuel injected 4.6, and a 1985 mercedes benz 300D 5 cyl turbo diesel. ALL three cars lasted prety long, benz put up a good fight since they put me in the large car class cause it wasnt a 4 cyl.
the police car lasted 3 derbys and the buick lasted 2 enduro/derby races.
the mini cars are more fun to wach, i could just imagine driving.

all derby forum. all sizes, make and model can usually be found there. if not, i am usre someone has some knowledge on them. For the minis, older small toyotas, 2 door tempo is right at the max wheelbase around here, chevettes, gremlins, pintos are all good.
as said above, relocate gas tank to backseat area, batter to passenger side floor board, some sort of steel bar or pipe behind the seat, hole in the hood, as many strands of 9 wires or chain as allowed by rules(maybe even a few extras), and be sure to exploit any gray area of the rules as you possibly can. If they bitch and moan in inspections, fix the issue and go get your stick.
Lastly, dont drive like a little B^&*$. Put a dent in the floorboard beneath the skinny petal. Prepare to be sore the next day if you drive the mini's. The little ones actually go faster on the wet tracks than the big cars. have fun, it will be a new addiction for you.
