A wolf spider, that don't look like any wolf spiders around here I guess cat crap is like miracle grow to spiders. All I can say is if that thing was in my yard I ain't stepping on it I'm getting my gun.

This is a pregnant mama "fishing spider". Likely Dolomedes tenebrosus. Despite their large size, they are quite harmless. They are not dangerously venomous to humans or pets. Because they don't make webs for catching their insect prey, they have to wander on foot in search of insects to ambush. We really don't have very many large spiders here in North America, but this is indeed one of them.

This behaviour may help the female by providing the nutrition she needs to produce healthy young, while the male gets the benefit of passing his genes on to a well-fed next generation. Some males fall victim to females that pretend to be interested in sex when all they want is an easy and nutritious meal.
