Agreed.

From Wikipedia- and this also coincides with what I was taught in engineering.
An engine is a machine that produces mechanical force and motion from another form of energy (e.g. a fuel source, compressed air, or electricity).[1] It is also referred to as a prime mover. An automobile makes use of several motors to start the car and drive the car's various pumps – but the power plant that propels the car is called an engine. The term motor was originally used to distinguish the new internal combustion engine-powered vehicles from earlier vehicles powered by a steam engine, such as the steam roller and motor roller; but can be used to refer to any engine that creates motion.
Motor is a device that creates motion, an engine; it usually refers to either an electrical motor or an internal combustion engine. It may also refer to: Electric Motor, Hydraulic motor, etc

i do have to agree that motors are electric and engines are internal combustion but internal combustion is referd to as a mototr more offten then engine. there refered to motor mounts not engine mounts, most people are called motor heads not engine heads, its a motorcycle not enginecycle, like stated above its motor city not engine city

Yeah, just one of those things. Like on a bike; you've got a seat post tube which holds the saddle.

The problem with the over-technical definitions like this is that thermodynamics screws you over; engines don't make their own energy, they just convert energy that plants captured through photosynthesis. Internal combustion engines are a form of heat engine, as are Sterling engines, electric engines, air engines, steam engines, et cetera; if you want to get technical enough, then there's not enough difference between hydraulic theory, pneumatic theory and electrical theory to use them to differentiate between "motor" and "engine".

Anybody who feels like nit-picking between "motor" and "engine" is uselessly sidetracking the conversation. It's like when a college professor is writing a proof of Euler's Theorem on the chalk board...
Thus for some intager M > 0, M·o(a) = φ(n). Therefor aφ(n) = ao(a)·M =(ao(a))M = 1M = 1. This means that aφ(n) = 1 (mod n)
...and some immature brat who has no idea what's going on, but is desperate to assert superiority anyways, gives the professor crap about misspelling "integer" and not tacking an "e" on the end of "therefor".

Let's start this whole conversation over. Is a "bike" a motorcycle or a bicycle.

Hmmm kinda like the difference between motor and engine eh. As long as it stay in good humor and without personal attacks this thread can go on forever.

So what's a bike.
