Actually, I'm pretty sure classic rock will die the day AC/DC calls it quick. I guess we still have the Stones, but they did a half time show, so they're out. Tom Petty did one. Paul McCartney did one. Bruce Springsteen. ZZ Top. Aerosmith. The halftime show is a cashing in on your name.

Deliver us sweet Sara from the long-past-prime 70's rock acts...

 

How is doing a show at the largest TV event of the year, whoring yourself out?

I'm not saying they can match the length of an actual concert, but a show is a show man. Aerosmith did a pretty nice job, even if they combined with a few other artists. The Boss did a pretty awesome job too, and he used The E Street Band with him. Petty was okay, I never really loved his stuff anyways...

 

Because you're performing with a backing track, amidst a level of fanfare and restrictions that make the quality of your performance a secondary concern at best, and the acoustics and production aren't even considerations.
