Am I the only one
Am I the only one who has separated his FOB from his keys, I couldn't see much sense in your FOB being locked in the truck with your keys, plus if you want to leave the A/C going for the dog on really hot days you need the FOB to lock the truck.
One guy I worked for had a 1500 and 2 days in a row he locked his keys in the truck, his truck would auto lock if the keys weren't in the switch and had to call pop a lock with them laying on the seat.
I told him the first time to separate his FOB from his keys he didn't and the next day did the same thing,, you know how hard it is not to say dumb ***, but he did do that time.
And yes he was one of the walking dead among us, so does anybody else keep their FOB's separate or carry a spare key keep in the other pocket too!

I have always had my FOB separate from my keys; and for several reasons. First, I drive too many different vehicles to have all the Fobs with the keys, and secondly because it greatly reduces the risk of being locked out of the vehicle for whatever reason. I am one of the few though I think...

I have two key-rings that attach with one of those quick-connects; one keyring only has the keys for my two trucks, the other keyring has all the rest of my keys in addition to keys for my trucks. That way I can have keys in both my trucks when I'm jockeying them around my yard, or I can leave the truck running when I need to run into the house or garage; it's better for tumblers to not have all your keys hanging on them too. I can also leave the truck running and lock the doors when I'm warming it up in the morning.
I also carry flat copies of both my trucks keys in my wallet, so I have three copies at any given time.
And I still get locked out on occasion.

I have my fob in my pocket always just for running into the corner store real quick and not shutting the truck down and the starting it back up. And also for the accidental locking the keys in scenario. I also as well have the flat keys in my wallet started that when the one and only time I locked the keys in my old truck (man locks) and had to get the ol coat hanger out. from there on made flat copies of all my vehicle key and have been in my wallet ever since.
I never did like the idea of "stashing" a key under the vehicle either wiring it to something or in one of those magnetic hide a key things. Seen too many fall off (magnetic type) or keys corroding from being wired up. Just didnt seem to reliable to me because sure enuff just when you might need it it wouldnt be there or work from being corroded. jmho

my father has his FOB in the fuel door of his truck,it has been there since it was new in 99,but we don't have the theft around here like some places any body who knows me knows where my keys to all my vehicles are unless they are out of the yard all my big trucks have spare keys wired to them in a secret place that me and the drivers know about, had a driver take a truck home for a little while when his car was broke down ,he called in sick on a friday morning and I found another guy to take the truck for the day ,when we went to pick it up,it was not as his house it was in a parking lot down the street, the door was unlocked so I opened it and found the keys still in the ignition that got his *** fired
