The Special Olympic games are GREAT and there probably needs to be more programs like that so more kids and adults can be involved. I'm just saying sometimes things that seem like they are good in the end can be bad. I think the story shows that people need to take care of their own and show love and compassion towards all people but sometimes compassion isn't a handout. The other thing is the story isn't 100% true or can't be determined so we are arguing a moot point about the boy.

It probably isn't true, how many people do you know could reach a hand down to help lift up someone's spirits, instead of kicking them when their down.

But I'm still going to believe it happened, just like I believe in God even though he can't be proved to be a fact, He doesn't have to be, many of us just know He lives and gave his Son to us as a savior.

I'm a pessimist so I'm not the best at lifting spirits but if someone needs help I am the first one to offer my hands and any experience I have. Compairing an mass email story to God is silly IMO. Not even in the same ballpark.

One thing about me that's hard to understadn on a web board is I like to argue/debate. I may totally agree with you 110% but I will take the other side to get some stimulating conversation going. Not once have I ever held a grudge or looked down on those with differeing opinions.

In the context of helping the 'average' person succeed, one who's not disabled and completely capable of looking after themselves, I completely agree with you. There are no free rides, you don't win anything in life by accident unless you play the lottery but your chances there are slim to none. We have to earn rightfully what we want, and to allow someone to win is to give them a crutch and in the case of a child this does not paint a real picture of what society is like or help them to stand on their own two feet.

But...I'm gonna continue to allow chariots of fire and inspirational music play in my head while I imagine this child making his way around the bases.

And there is nothing wrong with that.
