All athletes should be paid the same way as pro golfers IMO. First they have to make it through the cut to be even allowed to play and then their pay is based on performance, not including what sponsors hand out, but what they hand out will also be based on performance/standing as well. I mean look at Tiger Woods, yeah he screwed up his marriage but he is a phenomenal golfer and his paycheck reflected that, sponsorship included (not anymore, however...)

Yep, but did you know tv networks pay the NFL about $21 BILLION per season to have the "privilege" of broadcasting the games? That doesn't include post season either. Where do the networks get the $? From sponsors. Where do sponsors get the $? From consumers. So we're all paying these prima donnas.

I pretty much avoid "Pro" sports. I'd much rather watch NCAA sports.

what makes paying for someone that puts their foot on the go peddle any better than paying money to go watch guys shoot a ball into a hoop, I agree sports players are over paid, but i also don't think someone should get paid very much to press their foot on a pedal and hold on for the ride, yes i know there is more to it than that, but to a lot of people there isn't, i see no point in nascar, but that's just me

In my opinion sports is one of the most shameless, honest and open industries there is. All industries have massive quantites of money moved around between the elite; movies, music, politics, defense, religion, manufacturing, finance, et cetera.

And I trust that an athlete has made his money by ripping off less people than a movie producer, a senator, a bank CEO or a television evangelical has.

supply and demand, if there's a demand for tickets at $200 dollars or whatever per ticket and enough people willing to pay that much for a ticket then who can blame whoever is in charge for making the prices so high?

I really don't care for pro sports. I would much rather catch a high school football/basketball game.
Only problum that I have with pro sport pay is that some of that cost comes down to every consumer.

Yea a so are some CEO's, why is one guy making 36 million a year and the people working for him are making 10 bucks an hour and we all pay for it.

Let me make 1 million one year and my picture will be on a milk carton, have you seen this guy.

How much money do you need, but the power sucks you in and you end up doing all for the money.

Supply and demand is one thing, priorities are another. Isn't it sad that a doctor who saves lives on a daily basis makes 10% of what some of these athletes make? I'm not saying either one should get a pay increase/decrease, but just the raw comparison of the two seems outrageous, to think there's more money in throwing a football than there is in replacing a human heart.
