Doc knows me pretty well, when he visited me at the cabin he ended up fixin my TV, he rewired the damn thing and also made one remote work instead of using 2.......then back at the house he did a bunch of adjustments to my puter...........he is correct I hate that **** and flat out just dont have the patience for gadgetry and electronics,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I think I need a great camera but as simple as possible.........point and shoot works for me then when or if I learn the advanced stuff I can go from there

The pictures declare themself as long as your name isn't Forrest Gump.
A true point is SLR's are heavy and a pain to carry around for a longer time. I have a small backpack and carry both lenses along with me. The result is worth the extra weight and the ability to change lenses.
Actually, I believe his middle name is Forrest...
You make another good point, SLR's are heavy and clunky to lug around. If youre on a trip or vacation they can be a pain.
Dont get me wrong - if you want the best of the best - a Nikon or Cannon SLR or even a Sony SLR is the route you want to go. And yes, anyone can pick one up, turn it to auto and press the shutter but its a little trickier than that to take great pics. Big learning curve here. If he was closer, I would lend him mine to see if a SLR is what he wants.

sometimes I wish I had a good small pocket digital camera.
There were so many times I left the SLR at home because I was not willing to carry the x-tra weight along with me and lost a good picture.
but there are also advantages of a good SLR: I was tailgated and the driver showed me his middlefinger. I did nothing.
Camera has taken all of it. I went to the police station showed the pics and the officers were happy to get the pics together with the license plate.
License of this aggressive driver was taken for a year.
I showed him the middlef...
