And to think that often shipping to AK is rediculous as well.

I needed a fuel pump for my yard tractor. Was $25 and Sears wanted $40 to ship it! I sent it to my folks in Maine for $8 and my Mom mailed it to me for ~$6!

For anything you are shipping use the good old USPS and fib a bit on the Customs Declaration. Its a gift but they dont need to know how much its worth. I think if its less than $60 theres no duty. if its over this amount, they charge some duty and maybe some GST (tax)....but its not like getting bent over the border by UPS.
Yup....that's the best way to do it.
