damn DM. I thought you could handle a simple little device like a crock pot! It has like 1 or 2 buttons on it!
I made a batch of ham and bean soup too.
Basically, I had a Ham bone from thanksgiving dinner, threw it in the pot with water and beans, bay leaves, seasoning salt, pepper, garlic, 1 yellow onion (finely chopped), and about 2 cups chopped carrots. Simmered it on the stove for about 4-5 hours. Pulled the bone, cleaned off what was left of the meat and fat, cut up the other ham meat I had left, and threw it all in the pot for another hour of low simmering. Came out fantastic!
Ditch the crock pot and use the stove and a stock pot.

yeah they do look small, i took it with a cell phone...the cooking chamber is maybe 4 feet long. well you season your meat with whatever kind of dry seasoning(rub) ya want. get your fire going add whatever flavor wood chunks ya want to it. once your heat in the cooking chamber reaches 180-225* throw your ribs in..and for 6hrs all you have to do is watch the temps and make sure they dont go to low or to high...EVERYONE ON THIS SITE SHOULD BE GOOD AT THAT BY NOW and at the beginning of the 6th hr is when you add your bbq sauce...
