Chit happens, don't worry about it too much, but get some of those clear plastic window well covers on those, so it won't happen again. It'll still let in light, but will keep the critters safe in the future. I don't blame ya for not going out in the cold to rescue it. Plus they do bite and scratch, and gloves might not have been enough, I think they're open to biting wrists and arms too. Can rabbits carry rabies?
