Ya know I don't know for sure the builders I was taking never said, but I was asking about the PEX.

Pex is proven to be good as far as i know...

I've never heard of any issues with PEX, other than initial cost (moot point now that copper has skyrocketed) and slow acceptance by the old school plumbers who believe nothing beats copper.

Probably to late, but don't buy it from those guys. Those prices are more than double what it can be had for.

Pex tends to do better in the event of a freeze, it gives a little.

I've never heard of water eating plastic, that must be some serious water.

Yup pex is the way to go. Ran waterline in my 3000 sq ft house in less then 2 days, and im not a plumber.

Most of the contractors I know, have been using Pex for all their re-modeling projects.

I've heard nothing but good things about it..

My ol man been in plumbing business bout 30 years, and he is one them old dogs you just cant teach new tricks, he still swears by use of copper pipe; and talks down this new stuff. I myself, being in Iowa just a few short months, have seen that PEX is tried and true and talked very well about out here. When I get back home, I will ask some of the other plumbers whom I know through my dad if they use it at all.

Though as Dozer Boy said, SoCal may just be different, and perhaps even the younger plumbers are not going to it yet. We shall find out soon enough though-

The bathroom that I just redid Whit had Pex pipes in it, black mold... leak,,, but the problem was in the sink .. I think the crimping pliers are the key, cause you cant even crimp that with out them. as long as you used them, it should be good...Its sure is tough to try to undo if thats a good thing.

Our cabin has been done with the PEX for several months now and no leaks.......real good stuff and very easy to use

as Jenn says the krimping tools are the key to it and you hafta have the right tools or its a no go

the only thing you can do with a bad connection is to cut the band or tubing and start over
