Default Cash For Clunkers Thoughts

I know next to nothin about this program and I haven't heard anybody else express any concerns over it so feel free to tell me if I'm way off base here.

Thinkin about this today and what popped through my head is the future that this program will lead us to. If they destroy all the older model cars and trucks what is there left to drive for the people that can't afford a new $30G plus car or truck. This seems to me like just the next step towards the European lifestyle of mass transit for all but the wealthiest.

Where is my next Jeep or in my case Tracker little 4 wheel drive gonna come from. What about all the old classics that are still yet to be rebuilt but now will end up as recycle. For anybody that loves automobiles this is a travesty, they're stealin our future from us. Not to mention, how long will it be after this before I can't get plates for my truck because I don't pass the new emissions standards.

I am with you all these going to be future classics that our children would want. Then the cheaper little cars and trucks I know I love my little old toyota 4runner and to think that these ppl will be crushing them all the parts that are still usable I know cali has been trying to buy my toyota for a few years and I just throw away their offers but now this all these ppl that dont know about cares or dont care are destroying a life style.

What is it doing to our economy....? Those that are turning in their clunkers for $500/month car payment for the next 5 years.

Is the timing right to promote assuming additional debt?

the government is doing this to get rid of these so called gas guzzling 90's vehicles that are bad for our enviroment. and by giving someone 4500 dollars it will help them on there payments on a new "Green" vehicle that doesnt harm us as much. im pissed because its getting rid of all of these old vehicles we can use for trail rigs or spare parts.

it also promotes people simulating the economy with buying cars. but im pretty sure its just for the enviroment part of it. yeah 250000 gas guzzlers in the crusher is really going to help me breath better. sounds like a big load of crap to me

What i don't like about this is they are saying that if we arn't getting a certain milage from our vehicles and the age of the vehicle isn't to their likeing then their saying it's a clunker.

Adolph Hitler wanted a car that the common citizen could afford. Hitler heard about Ferdinand Porche's prototypes of an inexpensive automobile that fit his goals of a car for the masses. The German government decided to give a contract to Porsche to build more prototypes in hopes of creating a peoples car, or in German the Volkswagen.
In Hitlers world every normal person would drive the same vehicle ,

Obama gets in office and now were crushing mass quantities of vehicles to own what he wants us to own .

ill keep my clunker

My kid sent me a picture of a Tracker bein shredded that was way nicer then mine and that's what got me thinkin about this stuff. I would a traded my old tracker for the one gettin shredded and they still could have gotten an old truck off the road.
