It is a stupid idea. On the other side this the program ran out of money in the first week( the government has no idea how to budget for something or control cost, why should anyone want nationalized health care. The biggest thing I see is the government is absolutely unable of running anything efficiently.

 

i honestly think that this will bankrupt the already rocky auto industry. they are giving the credit, letting the vehicles go out the door before they see a dime from the government. what makes them think that they will get any money at all? what if the gov. says, "thanks for your "partial repayment" of the bailout we gave you months back" ......."oh ya we need all that sales tax too from the new vehicle purchases"

there are dealers that i have heard of that have taken 70-80 units in the first 2 days and then quit taking them because they were scared they wouldn't recieve payment form the gov.... think here, 70 x 4500 = $315k.... that is a hard number to swallow.... that prolly wouldn't be a number they would "write off" on their taxes.......

that is my theory.... i am glad all my crap is paid for and there ain't no emissions down here....

 

The house just passed another $2BILLION for the program to continue. Still has to go through the Senate.

 

If their theory is gas savings then why are they not letting a person trade on a motorcycle? Oh maybe they get to good of mileage.

So the cars you can get are they only Government Motors, I mean General Motors. I mean the government already owns them.

On a side note how long till GM makes a car called the Obama? We can put a sail on it so its wind power and for those calm days maybe power it by wishful thinking. I think I can pantent this with the new administration.

i woulnt bee surprised if the auto companies dont get their money back i mean it is the united states government were talkin bout. . . . were broke already and now were blowin money on this clunker crap so we can stimulate the economy. its not gonna fix it nor willl it help emissions. think bout all the diesel that their burnin to run them threw a shredder.

my observations and thoughts.

1.Do you think we would ahve this program if the governament own 0% of the car ownerships? Hell no!

2. wasting cars seems to ridiculous. depending on some of the model cars, Europeans or othe rworlds pay big money for american vehicles. So why not create a few more jobs and sell some of these overseas? then we can use the profits to pay for our national debt?

3. my sister was in the market for a small SUV and told me that she was looking at a RAV4 2 months ago for $19k. Today she called me and told me the same exact one she test drove has a $23500 sticker on it. So the money is a wash. I checked other stealerships and saw very simular stuff going on.

4.you would think they would work some way into the program to pay the debt.
