well got all the files on my desktop , re formated the xternal HD and now have the lap top backing up files , 30 mins into it and its 1% done so this is an all nighter , then ill restore it to factory and hope it works

 

too bad you aren't closer. I do computer work for alcohol.

If you read through that forums site I listed that is ran by Best Buy there is nothing good to say about best buy. If you check out the Better Business Bureau and other sites like it Best Buy is definitely not the best place to buy. Nothin but con artist that are there for your money and nothin else. And ya there is tens of thousands of complaints with BBB's all over the country against them.

 

well im posting from my lap top , attempting to restore the files now from my xternal HD , will see what happens

 

any chance at the restore partition is good on the ole lappy ? I know HP sends em stuffed to the gills with restore........

 

well i initeated the restore off the xternal HD and it creaed a restore folder on my desktop and its putting all the files and ect in there , pretty much worthless to have the program files folders and ect cause theres no install.exe in the program files so i still have to reinstall everything anyway

 

Thats right - D:/ drive on my HP is a restore partition. I bet DM had this before he wiped the hard drive.

 

i did have that but the restore said it would wipe everything out , i ran the restore from the disks and backed everything up on the xternal HD
