IMO if you are repairing/patching fabric a sewing machine is a must. I have never used one though. If the back of the seat is the same material it's probably not a bad idea to steal a piece to fix the front. Blue vinyl is a great idea for wear resistance. Maybe you could pull the cover off and have a seamstress sew on a patch for you. I use seamstresses to fix my work dungarees all the time.
Then get some high density foam from a fabric shop to repair the seat with.
If it were mine I would make a square cut in the foam and then use some good 3M spray on contact adhesive on both pieces then shape the foam with a fillet knife. I have used that method on MX bike seats in the past and it worked out nice. You will want to do a test piece with the adhesive before cutting anything to make sure it will bond correctly.

Well, like the other guy said, I'm sure the guy with the upholstery shop has something if you want to buy it from him...If you dont even have or know how to use a sewing machine, why do you get so worked up when someone else mentions to take it to a professional to have it done in no time?

Try GMpartsdirect.com. They should be able to supply you with a cover at a pretty good price. If you can't figure out what you need then just email them. You could also go to your local dealer, get the P/N and then order through them but be damn sure that you have the right number because they'll stick it to you if you're wrong.
I'm assuming that you have buckets? They're really easy to replace covers in. You don't even really need to take the seat out to do it.
Otherwise, yeah hit the upholstery shops in town and see what they can do for you. If you pull the seat apart it will save you some coin.
