Cats Under the Hood

Cats Under the Hood
I woke up in the middle of the night because my dog was going crazy, looking out the back.
We went outside and he was sniffing and scrabbling back and forth and around my CTD. Then he crawled under my truck, I thought to myself, oh no... a skunk.
He wouldn't come out from under the truck so I carefully raised the hood and a grey cat is in there. Finally, the cat makes a break for it only to run under the hood of my Chevy Dually.
To begin with, I hate cats. Cats should only be in the barn or the attic hunting mice.
Anyway, my questions are:
1. Do cats cause damage to anything under the hood?
2. If I ever start the engine with a cat under the hood will I end up with feline puree?

I dont think a cat will damage anything under the hood. They are just looking for a warm spot and a place to hide. Squirrels and rodents are a much different story (and are a good reason to have a cat). Squirrels damage the hood liners on both my trucks.
As for the puree, kind of depends on where the cat is when you start the engine. Usually its their tails that get caught in the belt.
