My 5yr daughter and my 8 yr old son are both in and doing well. They are both very eager to practice and want to keep moving up. I love the goal setting and working towards the goal. Plus the discipline and exercise is perfect for them.

I wish some of the other parents cared to keep their kids focused. Some of them are all over the place. Very distracting to the kids in class.

If he likes this and pursues it, as he gets older, the choice of instructor becomes more important.
From the research ive done...
Theres only 2 better Dojo's in Ohio , Madden's Chillicothe and Annerino's Newark,

as for the style
In 562 B.C. a form of karate was started by Daruma Tashi and was first taught in Shorin Temple in China. The first teaching plan was the art of controlling one's heart, mind and soul as only an exercise. In later years, people named this exercise Shorin Kempo, meaning "way of the fist".
Up to this point, Shorin Kempo has been taught to Buddhist Monks only. The Chinese people took over the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa). The Okinawan people had their own method of self-defense called Te (one's hand). King Naopashi saw that the Chinese people had some good points in their exercise in developing one's mind and body so he put the Okinawa Te and the Chinese Kempo together and formed Karate (empty hand).
During the rule of Okinawa by King Hashi and later the Satsuma Clan, all weapons were seized and possession of them was strictly forbidden. As a result the art of empty-hand self defense underwent a tremendous developmental phase. The art of Karate we study today has been passed down from these masters through the centuries. Modern Karate is not only a self-defense art, but, is practiced as a sport. Also, it is a physical and mental conditioner and builder of character. We try to promote the true Spirit of Karate by developing the following:
  • HEALTH- Physical Development
  • CHARACTER-Mental Development
  • SKILL- Proficiency in Contest
  • RESPECT-Courtesy to Others
  • HUMILIY- Never Lose Sight of Your Shortcomings

The first thing they taught chase was how to meditate

I took Tae Kwon Do for a while, it was pretty cool, good exercise, and taught discipline. My Dad got me going to it with him, he started going with my little brother and when he quit my Dad kept going, he just got his 3rd degree black belt at age 55. Its pretty wild to see a 55 year old man do the splits. I will probablly put my kids in it, when I have kids.

Chase has got major interest in it right now , probably because i went out and got him work out clothes and everything and me and jenny are showing him a lot of support , Since its been winter here all he does is go to school and play video games , Not anymore .

I think its better than Football , Soccer , Or Baseball Because Karate is not a team sport if he fails he can only blame himself .

I have some video he was getting hit in the stomach and complained the teacher told him if he dont want to get hit than he needs to block it , so guess what .... he started blocking correctly

Great outlet for my son Chance. He is tuning 6 next weekend. He was a tiny tiger for about 8 months then was upgraded into the older class. Good thing about the little classes its that when they do advance most times they will be gold belts when they move up.
My son is currently a orange belt and thinks he is the playground monitor.

My daughter started not to long ago and so far she loves it. I wish they had classes during the day so I could go, it looks like alot of fun.
