Default windows xp pro on a new HP

My wife is starting a new job soon and needs a new lap top for her work. we speced out an HP HDX 16 computer from HP direct. The only problem is that her company will only support windows XP pro and not vista. Can I get xp pro to work? The salesman said I could but it wouldnt be as easy as putting in the xp discs and loading it. I might have to find drivers and such. I dont know what that crap is/does

There is some computer hardware that doesn't work with Windows XP, I bought a Dell Laptop last year or something, and the some of the hardware manufacturers don't make XP drivers for the hardware. With out those drivers the hardware wouldn't be able to work correctly. You might be able to find XP drivers by searching online.

One thing I would try is to dual-boot the laptop, that way you still have Vista, and XP both on the same computer.

when looking for the drivers what do I have to look for?

is it model specific drivers or is it a general driver.
I am a dumb when it comes to this. and how do you do a dual boot?

Drivers are more model specific, there are some generic drivers, but Windows has most of them already.

When you look for drivers you have to find out what hardware is in your computer, and search for that specific driver.

Follow these instructions to dual-boot.
Dual-boot vista xp / vista already installed

You can call me if you need help, will PM cell number. I do this kinda thing all the time.

thx for the help. I called HP and they said loading XP will void any and all warranty on their laptops. So it looks like I will have to get a Dell.
