Yes HP will tell you that, just because they don't support XP anymore, (Dell will tell you the same thing if Vista was pre-installed) if something were to happen to the laptop, all you would have to do it restore vista (Delete XP Partition) and call HP tech support (Which Sucks) and they will never know you loaded XP. I have done it with thousands of computers.
