I've always changed my own oil, but I think that's gonna change with my wife's Chevy Colalt. Stinking thing sits so low I can't get a floor jack or a set of ramps under it, let alone my fat butt! Damn cars!

If you take the front skid plate off you can reach up and grab the filter. It's not too bad, 4 bolts and the plate comes off. I do it on my '04 Taco all the time.

I change the oil in all my rigs, and all my dad's trucks. My mom's Saturn goes to the dealership because 1) I hate the god damn thing and 2) she has a lifetime 19.95 + tax "coupon" that was worked into the deal to get them to buy it.

 

I change mine, and i always wonder why people take theres to a place to have them do it. If im in a hurry i could have mine done in 10-15 minutes no problem. I mean crap i can do a complete service on the OTR trucks at work in like 1.5 Hours and that is greasing, 48 qts of oil, filter, fuel filter (both of em) and look it over for anything wrong.

 

After seeing loose drain plugs, stripped drain plugs, and loose oil filters from the Quick Lube joints, I won't let them touch any of the vehicles at my house, even the older ones.

I do the oil changes/maintenance/repairs on 5 vehicles here. It's a part time job!

I change my own oil, always have, always will. I learned to change oil when I was 10 and have been doing it ever since. I do not trust anyone else to get it right and I enjoy the time in the garage drinking beer.

 

I do my own as well.
I run Amsoil, change the full flow at 10K and analyzed. I change both at 20k and analyzed. I change completely at 40K. i think I will analyze at 20k this time and at 30K again and see how that goes.

 

i does, 87 chev 350, 02 dakota 4.7, 94 cummins, 48 chevy 260, quad, boat, girlfreinds car you name it i do it costs less that way, taht and you dont get places like jiffy lube that just change the lube not the filter

 

In my 1999 F-250 7.3, I changed the oil every 4,000 miles, cause I can save a little money, I have used ROTELLA, DELO, SUPER TECH, DEL-VAC, MOTORCRAFT, and my 7.3 ran great, NOW on my 2008 F-250 6.4, I'm only going to use SHELL ROTELLA every 5,000 miles !!!!

 

I run Rotella 15-40 or 30W in everything i own.......lawn mower, tractors, trucks, vans, cars..........i dont care what make or model........it gets rotella 15-40 or straight 30W.......
