Default Not a good weekend at the lake

Went to the Lake this weekend and all was good until last night when a 23 yr old male came up missing in the swim area. I was out in the boat fishing when all these cops and fire rescue start showing up. The county cops waved me in to use my boat along with fire rescue guys to check the swim area. No luck, the county water rescue showed up about 20 mins later. The dive team showed up about another 20 mins and just before they entered the water they found the man drowned in about 8 ft of water. Talk about tough being there with all this mans family and friends. I feel so bad for this young mans family. Just a terrible thing to happen. I just thank god it wasn't any of my family. I just don't understand how 45 mins went by before they realized he was missing. I keep a very close eye on all my family and friends when we are out in the water. My kids think I over react but when something like this happens it's a real wake up call for all. God Bless this mans family

Yeah that's too bad. I hope his family can find some way to cope with this tragedy.

Jazz I have experienced many situations such as you have shared with us. With my work with the Forest Service way too many times have had to be involved with these tragic situations. It is hard on everyone involved, even when you didn't know the person personally. Sorry about your weekend

I had an employee drown about 1 year ago, they were all swimming around the boat and they thought Roman was messing with them when they did not see him for about 5 minutes. They thought he was hiding around the boat playing can and mouse or had swam to the shore. It turns out he drowned, they did not find his body for about 3 days.

No drugs or alcohol was involved. He had a 2 year old girl and a baby on the way.

Sorry you were involved with that, it sucks for sure. Prayer go to the family

Didn't mean it to sound like a bad weekend for me. It was all about the mans family. My wife and youngest daughter were there (15yrs old) I called my wife from the boat and told her what was going on and to get my daughter out of there. She takes things very hard anyways and that was something she really didn't need to see. By the time I got back to our place it was dark and my daughter was still crying. She has no idea who this man was but she is very sensitive. She said she no longer wants to swim in that lake. She is taking it very hard. Death is always a tough thing to deal with but this is suppose to be our family's fun place to be together. I'm sure over time she will get over the feelings she is having right now.

OMG I can't believe this. I just got home from the lake this morning after being gone all weekend. I went to the news paper to find a article on this accident and found this http://www.madison.com/wsj/topstories/302072. This guy is a friend of mine. My wife isn't back from the lake yet and has no idea about this. This really sucks This is gonna be a tough one to swallow guy's.
