I like to add Home depot and loews to the list of discounts of 10%. Cant beat Tower federal for banking 2.9 % on a new car loan.

So far, the only military discount that I have actually recieved is at the BX and Comissary! when i was booking a hotel... i viewed regular rates... 49 a night.... i clicked on gov. discount..... 89 a night??!?!!! some discount...

the last night my husband bought me a laptop... from dell.... on the regular dell website... my laptop ended up being 505.59....... on the military discount website for dell...it would have been 624.89........ PFFFT... some discount....

Ach Dana, you have to call them directly for the actual rate. Sometimes rebates get outperformed by market.
I never had to pay the advertised price.

Sometimes prices ouside post are cheaper than inside. Do not hesitate to ask about that- they will make you a price less or at least equal.

Even if the shop is not listed, ask for a military discount. If they don't support they are not worth to buy there.
Also check the black lists on post! Sometimes there are shops off limit for troops because they cheat or do other nasty stuff.

We used Dell's military discount on a Vostro business laptop and it's a better quality laptop cheaper than the personal line of computers.

Go to AAFES web site & ya can see the different places that offer mil discounts via AAFES mall.

Went to the Denver Aquarium yesterday & they did not offerr mil discounts, but couple other places we went to did (including the restaurant we ate at) but you have to ask up front...

I don't know about the rest of you that are not still active duty, but I finally gave up on my AKO account. They just kept making the security stuff more and more of a pain in the butt to keep up with.

To all of you still active, my condolences on the latest rule changes. I won't elaborate any further on it, but it's a sad day.

Not that I disagree with anything ya said Rampy, and i don't. But we have to save the discussions on this for the Badlands since it's political.
