Jobs for Veterans...and family
Heres a link that most of you probably already know about but has helped many of my AF counterparts, both them and their family. The link is straight to the Veterans Employment section but it there are job postings for anyone as well. This site has helped many vets obtain civil service jobs.... you can't beat it for job security trust me I know. Hope it helps.....

I've been using USAA for car insurance for many years. I was active duty for 28 years, and several co-workers had auto and home owners ins claims with them - and were treated well. When you do insurance with them you become a part owner, and occasionally get rebates back ,and they maintain some of your dollars in an account you can cash in if you leave USAA.
I also do all my banking with them. They refund ATM machine costs, and some debit rebates as well. Their on line banking and insurance system is slick and easy to use. I also have my motorhome loan thru them.
Bottom line - I highly recommend them.

I found a working link for the GI Bill transfer of benefits procedure, I'd tried it about 6 months ago when they first came out with it, but no one knew where to go or what forms to properly use. I'm still waiting to hear back, but this should be a good link for it...

Also, I have a detailed explanation of how to apply for the Post 9/11 MGIB transfer of benefits to spouses...
The steps are laid out in MarAdmin 421/09. The Marine must agree/be eligible to serve an additional 4 years, on top of the 6 years already served, unless they've hit higher tenure already. If they are eligible, they must request the transfer of benefits on the following website:
https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/agents...s=DFAS,FAM,CAC
which they can log in using either a Common Access Card (CAC)
DOD Self-Service Logon (which I assume means a self generated user name and pin)
or their DFAS Pin (mypay)
Once they log in, they will have the opportunity to transfer their benefits to whichever eligible dependent they choose. Once that is done in the system, the individual must get with admin and sign a Statement Of Understanding (the specific SOU I was told is listed in the MarAdmin), and submitted up to the approving official.
Once the SOU is completed and approved, the individual must then go on to the following website:
https://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
And finish the process by submitting the request to the VA for their spouse.
This is listed as the procedures for the Marine Corps, the steps may be slightly different for the other Armed Services...
This only took me 8 months to figure out!
