Default When I was in Okinawa...

of course this was in 1992-93' but I was stationed @ Kinser, but I lived in a house aout in town just north of Kadena with , now get this, three women, one each from the other three forces!
I had one of those little "Disposable" Toyota vans, with a big stereo in it, and I went to every night club on the island at the time, we had a ball!!!
There were places up north of schwab, (sp?) we found that had some good hiking and waterfalls, the cities were ok, but when you got away from them the place was beautiful!

And yes, I was a Marine that wound up in a LOT of bar fights, but really most o fthe time they were with other Jarheads!!!
I actually liked the place, but sometime after I left, like in 95 or so I heard that some marines raped a little 12 year old girl and the island went on lockdown after that... I don't think I would have liked that... Takes a real piece of work to do something like that when there is a place called "Whisper Alley" right next to tha bar section where if you wanted to you could get "Service" at the table.
Can you say "Blockheads"?!!!

I kinda liked Korea myself but my visit's were only short stays. Just enough time to do my Christmas shoppin. I'd love to have a few more a them blankets, they are the greatest for those cold nights a snugglin. But them days are long gone with retirement. I'm just fine with spendin the rest of my life CONUS from here on out. Had my fill of adventure for a few lifetimes.

Yup, I never used it but I know where "whisper alley" is, it's right outside of gate 2 at Kadena.

Spent 3 years on Kadena and loved every min of it

Lots to see and do on the island & made it to the PI several times (WOZA) and Korea (that was a blast, loved Korea) along with all over the pacific theater.

The only important thing is gonna be to stay safe on your journey Bud. Don't get in to big a hurry on that drive home. Use that as some de-compress time and see some of the sites along the way.
