Going To New York

Going To New York
As the title states, my wonderful bride booked us a trip to New York. We are leaving Monday morning at 6:00 and returning on Saturday late night.
I am a huge baseball fan and have always wanted to go see Yankee stadium. I also love to go to different cities to look at the downtown skylines (I know kind of a weird thing). One night I was lying in bed and she brought me a printed itinerary for a surprise trip to New York for her birthday July 1.
So far all I know for sure about this trip.
We are staying in Times Square overlooking the River.
We are going to watch my Texas Rangers play on July 2nd.
We are going to the fireworks at the Statue of Liberty on the 4th.
We are going to Wall Street on the 3rd.
We are going to ground zero on the 3rd.
We are going to try to go to the top of the Empire State Building.
Other then that what are some other must does in the City? We are not artsy or Broadway show type people so we probably will not do that. We both are Native Dallas/Fort Worth so I want to take a ride on the subway and maybe go see Shae Stadium before it is torn down. I know there is a ton of stuff to do and we will most likely run out of time to do everything when we get there but I want so starting points from people with similar interests. My mother and others are telling us about things that we have no desire to do or see.
Thanks

just a bit of advice on driving, #1 it sux, #2, the only way to do it is to picture the front of your vehicle as the only part you have to worry about, from the side mirrors forward. Do not hit anything with that part of your car/ truck. rear ward of the mirrors is the next guys problem. If she likes shopping, Macy's is pretty surreal, and FAO scwhartz will feed that inner child, toys like you have never seen. if you like the sky line and have the time, go for a evening cruise in the rivers around the city, many of them ride ya up down around the island to give you a neat view, and have dinner on board. A ride through central park in a horse/ carriage is cool too.
