Default Calling All Computer Builders/Geeks

Alrighty, now that I've got all your attention..

The wife and I are looking into upgrading/building a new desktop... we purchased a name brand laptop, and don't want to pay out the butt for sub par, mass built quality again..

anyway, my wife does graphics work and we would like to eventually tie the desktop into the home media system via the structured wiring that we've just put in...

What would you all recommend for graphics, some gaming, internet surfing, music/movie playing, data storage/sharing, etc??? Oh, and will need to run at least two monitors..

Give me your suggestions and comments! They are all appreciated!

once I get a few, I'll see how they line up with what I've/we're thinking...

I do -- but am somewhat flexible...

ah hell, here's what I've looked at so far... just kinda curious if I would need more, of if everyone feels it would be plenty for a while... was just trying to get peoples takes on what they thought would be a good all around system that can handle dreamweaver/graphics programs without any trouble, watch DVD's like no other, and be trouble free (as can be expected) for several years...

here's what I've found and seems to be a solid system... maybe with a few tweaks..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ksid=p3907.m29

(are ebay links blocked?? )

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core
(over clocked to 3.0, maybe 3.2...)

OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit

XFX PVT94PYDF4 GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Western Digital Caviar GP WD5000AACS 500GB 5400 to 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (doesn't have to be as big, but does have to be as fast or faster)

DVD drive of some sort/possibly bluray

64-bit OS

500-600W Power Supply

ASUS P5K SE/EPU - really have no clue as to the motherboard/audio - built in or not, bla bla....

Go w/ Sound Blaster audio, Blu-Ray drives, raid-1 on the hard discs, if not already setup. That's just in-case 1 drive fails, still have access to the data. If you got the coin, 2 24" widescreens, or if you really want to blow a wad, 2 30" widescreens w/ PIP from Gateway.

as long as it comes with all it says it does it is a helluva friggin deal, on stable platform of a good motherboard, and with quality components, room to grow as well.
