I think I would go down to the neighbor's house and confront the parents with the 2 and 2 you put together, just leting them know it is unaccepable. No threats, that'll just get you in trouble. Just tell them next time the police will be involved. That will leave it wide open, police could be involved arresting a couple of thugs for vandalism or better yet, investigating a justifyable homocide. Remember, you no longer have to 'retreat' to protect yourself or property.

 

Almost all teenagers lie and unfortunately, in my day my parents knew that. If an adult said I did something bad, they'd believe the adult and I would be dealt with accordingly.

Parents now a days believe that their angel child could not have possibly done any wrong.

 

Talk to the parents and get video camera, but I wouldn't make any acquisition. Really you don't know who did it just mention what a coincidence it is. Rttoys is right.

I would talk to the kids myself, the parents might not help you at all.
I think youll get more response if you go talk to the culprits, if they lie (theyll look to the right)...and say it wasnt them, then say good, cause if i catch the little im going to cut there nuts off. scare them a wee bit, let them know thats your property. They might respect you more because of it. IMO. with dealling with teenager boys, remember your the adult. how many times have i heard that.... but get on it, dont just let it slide, let them know your upset.

If you know for sure and for certain it was them, wait until they aren't around, pop the hood on their car, and take the coil wire. -- Of course this should come if Jenn's 'cut their nuts off' approach doesn't work first.

A word of advice... if you confront the kids, have a witness. I go back to my original statement... almost all teenagers lie.

A "pointing your finger" gesture could easily be turned into a "shaking his fist" by the time it gets back to their parents.

 

And while this might work..be ready to watch your truck or have a video system. DO NOT TELL THE kids you have a video system. Half of the people I knew at this age would take the confrontation to them directly as a challenge. So they will either be scared or they will come back after you.
